NBA- (8:05 ET, TNT) Denver at San Antonio

San Antonio wants to repeat a little bit of history, just like in 2005. The Spurs also lost the first game of that series, only to go on a rampage and went on to win plus cover the next four games two seasons ago. The scenario is set to do precisely the same thing two years later. Carmelo Anthony is attempting to put on his leadership hat and forge ahead. ""I'm in shock," Anthony told the Rocky Mountain News after losing at home a second straight time. He went on to say, "Losing three games straight, two at home, you know everybody is going to be disappointed and down," Anthony said. "I try to tell everybody it really ain't over. Anything can happen." While Melo's quotes are true, the best solution might be to completely alter the tempo like they did in game one and play better defense.

In the series opener Denver did a better job of pushing the ball up the floor for the entire game and the Spurs were only in the game because of Nuggets turnovers. In each subsequent contest, Allen Iverson and his teammates have only been able to control the tempo for periods of time, instead of all 48 minutes. In 2007, these two Western Conference teams have played Under all seven times, meaning San Antonio is controlling the tempo as the totals drop with each passing game. Denver is 5-14 ATS after two or more consecutive unders this season. After holding the Spurs to just 42 percent in game one, the Nuggets have not been as effective and is coming off a series high of 45.7 percent of Spurs shots to fall thru the hoop.

What most bettors already know, the Spurs are like a python, they just squeeze the life out of you with their defense. For the first three quarters of the last contest, Denver shot 54 percent, when it counted most in the last stanza, the Nuggets could only muster 33 percent, as the Spurs defense went to work as championship quality team's do. has the Spurs as 8.5-point favorites and the chalk in this series is 11-4 ATS in last 15 outings.

This potential series finale can be viewed on TNT, with the ball thrown up at 8:05 Eastern. Utilize the Live Odds page for both of tonight's NBA games and the full schedule on the MLB board.
